Como and Lake Como

Como is an international tourist destination of extraordinary scenic beauty. It is known for its Gothic-style Duomo, the panoramic funicular railway, and the footpath along the lake. The Educational Silk Museum (Museo Didattico della Seta) illustrates the history of Como's silk industry, while the Tempio Voltiano is a museum dedicated to the physicist Alessandro Volta. To the north are the lakeside gardens of Villa Olmo and other elegant villas. Some of the most famous towns on the lake, which are also worth a visit, include Cernobbio, Lenno, Tremezzo, Cadenabbia, Menaggio, and Bellagio on the Como side, and Varenna on the Lecco side.
