Royal Palace of Monza
Royal Palace of Monza
With its spectacular façade bearing witness to the Renaissance majesty of the Savoy family who chose it as their summer residence, the Royal Palace of Monza (Reggia di Monza) offers visitors a unique experience of history, art, and nature just a stone's throw from Milan. Not to be missed are the sumptuous rooms of the Royal Villa (Villa Reale), an architectural jewel designed by Giuseppe Piermarini. Its princely salons and the elegant historical furnishings of the private apartments of the sovereigns Umberto I and Margherita di Savoia are worth discovering. The Royal Gardens (Giardini Reali) also merit a visit as one of the earliest examples of an English-style garden in northern Italy.
